We at The Orchid, intend to help the BMC in their noble endeavor to cleanse Mumbai of plastic bags. However our good intentions are unlikely to bear any fruit without your valuable support. We request you to take on this task with a missionary zeal and help us collect at least 50 gms. per child. To make this entire exercise fun we have organised a competition. Mumbai will be divided into four zones and one school from each zone will be stands to win an invitation at a special felicitation dinner with 50 students. The winning criterion is the highest average weight of plastic bags per child so as to give all schools an even playing ground. The top 100 collectors from every school will receive a special cloth bag as a gift. |

The Orchid along it with the BMC will organise a truck to come and collect the plastic bags from the school premises. The collection point for the bags will the schools. The Principal or a nominee per school shall act as single point contact. In order to make the drive more fun we will have contests in four zones and a prize shall be awarded to each school collecting the most number of plastic bags by weight per student in a specified zone. The Orchid shall host a lunch/dinner/hi tea for the 50 people from each winning zone. |

1. The competition is open to all schools who accept our invitation. 2. The school shall confirm their participation in writing latest by September 15, 2000. 3. The school shall have all the plastic bags neatly bundled in one place. 4. Only plastic bags less than 20 microns thick should be collected for the drive. 5. The Orchid representative will weigh the bags before collection . 6. The school should provide one photo opportunity with it's team and the plastic bags. 7. The winner shall be the one with the maximum tonnage. 8. A minimum of 50gm/student is set as the qualifying criterion. however the average will be calculated on the on the basis of total weight collected divided by the total number of students on the rolls of the school. 9. The school with the highest average weight per student will win the award from the respective zone. 10. The competition is on a a zonal basis with, Mumbai being divided into four zones (NE, NW, SE, SW). The east and west zones are bifurcated along the western railway tracks. The north and south division is along the Bandra fly over. 11. The award shall be a felicitation at the Orchid for 50 students of the winning school. The school can decide on who it will send. 12. The decision of judges shall be final and binding. |
