WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2000 |
|
This year on World Environment Day (5th June 2000). The Orchid supported a month long campaign for cleaner air in Mumbai. The Orchid collaborated with the Transport Commissionerate – Maharashtra, Dignity Foundation and C.L.E.A.N. Air, – to have Dignitarians accompany the Flying Squads and main PUC Centers, as directed by the High Court of Mumbai. The object of the exercise is to ensure that no polluting vehicles escape the net and that the issue of invalid or false PUC Certificates is totally eliminated under the watchful eye of the Dignitarians supported by The Orchid An Ecotel Hotel. We had also held an inter-departmental Eco-Skit competition for our Team Members on the occasion of World Environment Day 2000, on the 2nd June 2000. The 3 winners once again performed on the 5th June 2000 for the invitees who grace the launch of the month long campaign to reduce vehicular pollution. The Orchid launched the programme on environment in the year 1998 and continued our first Anniversary in the year 1999. |
