The Orchid became Asia's first Five Star hotel to win the ECOTELŪ certification shortly after opening in May of 1997 and today (January 2011 ) is the only Hotel in the World to win over 75 international / national awards in 13 years from inception. Under the management of The Orchid Owner Vithal Kamat, the hotel has earned more environmental accolades than any other hotel in the world. With this latest achievement, The Orchid becomes one of only six hotels in the world to maintain top-level, "five-globe," ECOTELŪ-Certification.
